It's a sort of profile article featuring a few items of Dave Andrews' work, with a bit of background about him. The (most relevant) text is:

"It's impossible to overstate just what an impact Dave has had on the Warhammer world. For instance, it was Dave's band of gamers - the Player's Guild - who were the first to paint Orcs green."(Kym) + Warburton + (Classic40K) https://www.blogger.com/profile/17333928965917754588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874877056919928739.post-24226575459715273082014-10-22T16:09:43.761-07:002014-10-22T16:09:43.761-07:00I think G. The LOTR movie depicts them in more of a grayish tint. The Hobbit movie leans more towards the greenish hues but even these guys look more gray to me. Amazing how your memory changes as you age; I would have sworn that they were green in both movies if I hadn't looked them up. Is the green skin just a total GWS fabrication? Possibly to avoid any issues with the Tolkien estate?"matthewjksullivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08126108200355039621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874877056919928739.post-56160114238451337922014-10-21T19:04:23.241-07:002014-10-21T19:04:23.241-07:00One of the citadel painting guides by Rick Priestl...One of the citadel painting guides by Rick Priestly, I think, states that Dave Andrews and his gaming group were the first to paint orcs green in the 1980s, whereas before they had been a brownish colour.(Kym) + Warburton + (Classic40K) https://www.blogger.com/profile/17333928965917754588noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874877056919928739.post-54949051660499102202014-10-18T03:06:57.639-07:002014-10-18T03:06:57.639-07:00My belief (as in without proof) is that the first ...My belief (as in without proof) is that the first part of you discourse is correct. In the 80's it just seamed wrong to paint all your goodies white and all your badies brown. Why they plumped for green is anotyher story and possibly it is for the same reason both the green goblin and Fungus are green, it looks freeking cool!Ernyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06106035249657749275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2874877056919928739.post-27572444061607388132014-10-17T15:36:11.431-07:002014-10-17T15:36:11.431-07:00And... there's that thing with Orcs being Fung...And... there's that thing with Orcs being Fungus based life forms... and Bryan and Ricks Fungoid Trolls, you might just be on to something!

Coincidently the Hildebrandts green orcs were also 1977 Tolkien calender.Zhu Bajieehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13945636483237344750noreply@blogger.com
