Citadel's Talisman Miniatures

About a year ago, I painted up the complete set of 70 miniatures released by Citadel for the board game Talisman 1st & 2nd edition. The primary sculptor for the Talisman miniatures was Aly Morrison (with some help from Trish Morrison). Inspired by game illustrations by Gary Chalk, the Morrisons created an incomparably exuberant and fanciful range of miniatures. It is an apex of Citadel's golden age in the mid-1980's.

In an effort to help other fans of Talisman collect, paint and enjoy these miniatures, I spent some time this past weekend refurbishing my galleries. I created a new Talisman Main Menu to assist navigation. This directory will always be available on the left panel of this site, under the listing for "Miniature Galleries".

The individual galleries are broken down by expansion (plus galleries for the five Talisman toads and for variant miniatures):

    1. Mine too. Bob Naismith, Bob Olley, Jes Goodwin, Kev Adams... all produced amazing work. But Aly Morrison is SO fun and SO crazy.

    1. Thank you Michal! I think I love the history as much as I love the miniatures.

  5. Really really nice. I'm just curious how you can attribute to Aly Morrison some models and not others. Do you have sources other than Solegends?

    1. Great question, Jaeckel. The ad for the 14 original Talisman miniatures in the 1986 Spring Citadel Journal says that the were sculpted by "the barely sentient Citadel Sculptor Aly Morrison". Off the top of my head, I'm unsure if any adverts for Dungeon, Adventure or Expansion explicitly said that he sculpted them. But based on sculpting style, I'm 100% sure that he did most if not all of these expansions. I've spent a lot of time staring at these minis, and if Aly Morrison did the Ministrel or the Monk, he also did the Necromancer and the Soldier.
The great exception, of course is Timescape. The ads for that say that they were sculpted by Trish Morrison.
